Materials
The materials that will be needed is a computer lab with computers preloaded with the Finale music program. Will need enough paper with printed instructions for the activity for the entire class.

Procedures
Before Class Preparation:
As stated above the instructional setting will be a computer lab with computers preloaded with the Finale music program. The computer lab will have a printer so that the students can print their composition for grading. The teacher will have to create a Soprano melody and a Bass harmony to preload on all of the computers. For sake of ease it would be better to load the same melody and harmony on each computer.

During Class:
Instruction will be given before the students are allowed on the computers about how to use the music program Finale and how to insert notes in the proper location. This is the time in which all students will be working on their own harmonies for the project. They will use the program Finale to simply add the note they wish to notate in the designated area. The students will be given a preloaded melody and harmony that is eight measure long. Should the students have trouble with not being able to find the notes that fit in the chord the teacher can help them by showing the possibilities of the three notes that are in the root of the chord. After students finish their creation they can share it with other students around them. When everyone is done with the exercise the students will print out their composition and turn it in to be graded on whether or not they were able to complete the chord in each beat.

Accommodations and Extensions:
Should a student have a learning disability Finale actually tells the student what note they have entered as well as letting them hear the note and the entire composition that they created that way they can successfully complete the exercise.

Back Up Plan:
Should the technology fail with a few computers in the lab the students can take turns with the computers. Should the technology fail with all computers the teacher can easily write out the melody and harmony on the chalk board and give the students staff paper to complete the exercise.
